Durante los últimos años el mundo laboral ha evolucionado rápidamente y los empleados han adaptado sus estrategias de administración del talento para hacer frente a las necesidades cambiantes de sus organizaciones la contratación de funciones diferentes al giro y esencia del negocio, a través de empresas externas especializadas en dichas actividades, ha sido una tendencia con gran popularidad durante la última década. Actualmente es común que las organizaciones busquen identificar nuevas formas para incrementar la eficiencia dentro de ellas.

Justamente en estas tendencias se encuentra el término terciarización; el cual se refiere a las actividades propias del área de Recursos Humanos de una empresa, como son: el reclutamiento, selección, evaluación, compensación, administración del capital humano y varios temas vinculados a la relación entre la compañía u el trabajador. Estas actividades son llevadas a cabo por un tercero, logrando una mayor eficiencia en tiempos, costos y logística.

Las empresas de terciarización se caracterizan por realizar sus procesos basados en altos estándares de calidad, asimismo cuentan con solvencia moral y financiera para actuar bajo esquemas estrictamente apegados a la legislación vigente. Esto garantiza que se respeten los derechos y beneficios de los trabajadores, incluidos la seguridad social, sueldos y prestaciones. De igual manera, realizan el pago de las cuotas o instituciones gubernamentales como: la Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (SHCP), el Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), y el INFONAVIT. Además, presentan un esquema que da flexibilidad a la inversión y seguridad sobre la contratación de los empleados, tanto para la compañía usuaria del servicio como para el trabajador.

De lo anterior, se puede concluir que la terciarización representa un beneficio claro de generación de empleo formal por medio del cual se perciben las prestaciones marcadas por la ley y se retienen las cuotas fiscales y de seguridad social que se establecen en la legislación vigente.
